New Leadership at The Pershing Square Foundation

Over the last five years, the Pershing Square Foundation has benefited greatly by having a strong team of professionals led by Paul Bernstein, our CEO, who have been key partners with us as the Foundation’s programs and impact have grown. Paul will moving on to new initiatives outside the Foundation at year end. Olivia Tournay Flatto, PhD will be assuming the role of CEO.

Under Paul’s leadership, the Foundation has established a fast-growing portfolio of impact investments and grants that have tackled issues from education to healthcare, immigration, and justice through organizations like the Foundation for Newark’s Future & the Newark Charter School Fund, Bridge International Academies, Social Finance, Inc., TheDream.US, the Innocence Project and Measures for Justice to give just a few examples. Our work with organizations like the Social Entrepreneur’s Fund, the One Acre Fund, Cold Spring Harbor Labs, and the Broad Institute will ensure the next generation of exceptional leaders and innovative organizations will have the foundation they need to achieve success and drive change.

Olivia Tournay Flatto who helped co-found the Pershing Square Sohn Cancer Research Alliance and leads the foundation’s science-based initiatives at the Foundation, has agreed to assume the role of CEO. Olivia brings to the role a deep understanding of the Foundation from her service on the board and her work on the Cancer Research Alliance.  Having been extraordinarily impressed with Olivia’s accomplishments at the Foundation over the last two years and with the benefit of a relationship that spans more than two decades, the foundation could not be more pleased that she has agreed to assume the CEO role.
